South Korea will take “phased measures” in response to reports suggesting the North is deploying troops to aid Russia in its invasion of Ukraine, according to a news release.

The authorities of South Korea announced on Monday that they plan to send a delegation to NATO to exchange information regarding military cooperation between Russia and North Korea. Seoul intends to take active countermeasures depending on the developments,

The request was made during a call between NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte and South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol. NATO and the U.S. earlier said they could not confirm reports from South Korea and Ukraine that as many as 10,000 troops from North Korea are being sent to Russia.
