The 2024 Great American Beer Festival (GABF) once again showcased the best of the brewing world, awarding 326 medals to 273 standout breweries and cideries from

North Carolina beers took top honors at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver, which featured more than 1,800 breweries from across the nation. In all, eight North Carolina breweries — half of which were in Charlotte — took home gold, silver or bronze wins at the festival out of nearly 9,000 entries.

Goose and The Monkey also won silver at the 2022 Great American Beer Festival for its Seductive Mullet Amber Lager. The brewery has also won two gold medals at the N.C. Brewers Cup and 11 medals at the Carolina Championship of Beer since 2022.

We sat down with Jim Koch to talk about the state of the craft beer business and his company’s newest big release, Samuel Adams American Light, which is already earning accolades.

Third Space Brewing, located at 1505 W. St. Paul Ave., received gold and silver medals: its Pretty Good took home first in the American Amber/Red Ale category and its Cucumber Lime Blonde took second in the Field Beer category, a style in which the brewery incorporating vegetables into the brew.
