Rupert Murdoch’s Dow Jones, the parent company of the Wall Street Journal, and the New York Post sued Perplexity on Monday, accusing the generative AI company of illegally scraping its reporting and diverting traffic to its own platforms.

Media conglomerate News Corp, the conglomerate that owns the Wall Street Journal, New York Post and a number of other media properties, is suing artificial intelligence (AI) startup Perplexity over what it alleges is copyright infringement.

News Corp is pursuing legal action against Perplexity AI, accusing the startup of illegally copying content from its outlets, including The Wall Street Journal and The New York Post, to train its AI models and generate revenue at the expense of journalists and publishers.
