China urged India on Thursday to handle Taiwan issues with caution and avoid interference in the improvement of Sino-India relations following the opening of another Taiwan de facto consulate in Mumbai.

China on Thursday called on India to manage Taiwan matters "prudently", emphasizing that New Delhi should avoid actions that could affect Sino-India relationship. The statement came after Taiwan opened a new consulate office in Mumbai on Wednesday,

"China opposes any countries with ties with China to engage in any form of official contacts with Taiwan," the foreign ministry said in a statement.

Canadian PM Trudeau, embattled over domestic political compulsions and diplomatic row with India, played down China’s interference in his country. He described China’s activities before an inquiry panel as something that diplomats do in all countries.
