Howard's 100th homecoming celebration is officially underway and University police said they've taken the precautions to ensure campus safety.

"Homecoming has always been, for 100 years, an economic boost to the city. We think it will bring in millions in hospitality, food revenue and sales," Princess Gamble, Associate Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Development and Alumni Relations at Howard University told 7News.

Howard University is celebrating its 100th homecoming and with thousands of people expected to be in attendance this weekend, safety is a top priority. Every year, 60 to 70 thousand people come out to Howard’s homecoming to celebrate.

Imagine yourself in Washington in November 1924, promenading down U Street, the city’s “Black Broadway.” The street is lined with nightclubs and movie houses, including the landmark Howard and Lincoln theaters.
