A wealthy conservative donor who has donated more than half a billion dollars to Harvard criticized the antisemitism on campus and said he would no longer financially support the school, worrying it had become “lost in the wilderness,” according to The Hill.

Gifts to the school’s endowment, an important sourse of support for its operations, fell 34%.

Gifts specifically to Harvard’s endowment fell by 34 percent, dropping to $368.1 million from $560.6 million the year before. However, the school’s investment fund still gained 9.6 percent for the fiscal year, bringing its total value to $53.2 billion — the largest academic endowment in the world.

Total philanthropic contributions fell by 14 percent in fiscal year 2024 as several billionaire donors publicly severed ties with Harvard over its response to campus antisemitism.
