Stanford has been outscored 120-28 in the past three games and now faces its third ranked opponent in four games.

When Stanford and SMU were part of the ACC's westward expansion last year, they were set up as annual rivals in football in a plan to cut down on coast-to-coast trips.

SMU will have to get used to the West Coast travel. The ACC schedule is laid out so that the 14 returning teams won’t have to travel to California in back-to-back seasons. SMU, on the other hand, has annual matchups with Cal and Stanford and is set to travel to Cal next season.
