Hurricane Oscar has formed off the coast of the Bahamas, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) said Saturday. The storm poses potential threats to surrounding areas of the southeastern Bahamas and is expected to bring hurricane conditions and produce a storm surge on the Turks and Caicos Islands, with heavy rainfall, the NHC said.

TAMPA, Fla. - Hurricane Oscar and Tropical Storm Nadine formed in the Atlantic on Saturday. Hurricanes Milton and Helene have marked two of the most consequential hurricanes in West Florida in decades, leaving many Tampans feeling weary and burnt out as hurricane season rolls on in Florida.

Oscar was also the eighth named storm to form since Sept. 24, breaking a record for most named storm formations between Sept. 24 and Oct. 19.
