Oscar was also the eighth named storm to form since Sept. 24, breaking a record for most named storm formations between Sept. 24 and Oct. 19.

Hurricane Oscar has formed off the coast of the Bahamas, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) said Saturday. The storm poses potential threats to surrounding areas of the southeastern Bahamas and is expected to bring hurricane conditions and produce a storm surge on the Turks and Caicos Islands, with heavy rainfall, the NHC said.

The National Hurricane Center on Saturday is tracking Tropical Storm Nadine and another system likely to form in the northwestern Caribbean Sea. As of 8 a.m., Tropical Storm Nadine was located 60
