The Belarusian Air Force downed a Russian Shahed-type drone over Belarus' Homel Oblast overnight on Oct. 20, the monitoring group Belarusian Hajun reported. The incident marks just the third time a Belarusian aircraft has downed a drone that entered its airspace.

One recent incident involved a Russian-made Shahed drone being shot down by a European country that otherwise is considered an ally to Russia. Late Saturday night, Belarusian air defense forces intercepted and shot down a Russian Shahed drone over the Gomel region in the southeast of the country.
